Jim Henry's Soup Co.

About us

Jim Henry’s Soup Company and Ramen House is Blount County’s first American-Asian Fusion restaurant serving American soups, sandwiches, Asian ramens, and an array of sweets.

James (Jim) Henry Chin is an American-Asian Blount County native and restauranteur who has a fiery passion for making delicious food and soups. Jimmy says his passion started as a child watching his father cook many delicious Asian dishes and his mother make delicious southeastern cuisine dishes. "They really showed me that food was more than just something to eat. That good food came from your soul." I always wanted to continue that legacy of making great food. Jimmy says it has always been my lifelong dream to open a restaurant in Blount County, especially close to his old stomping grounds - Alcoa High School.

I grew up right down the street from this building and fell in love with the Alcoa community when I moved here to go to high school in 2005. I am so thrilled that we were able to get this location. For years there haven't been many options on this side of town besides a few notable East Broadway staples. I hope to bring another great restaurant to this side of town.

The concept really came from me wanting to do what I was passionate about and food that the community was passionate about. I wanted a spot where, no matter what you're craving, we can make you something mouthwatering.

When my team and I decided on soups, I knew it was nonnegotiable that I make my own bone broth and stock for my soups. We're all tired of chain restaurants that seem to only serve food that comes out of a bag or comes frozen. We, Blount Countians, Tennesseans, and Americans, deserve fresh food with an effort to source as much as we can from local farms and vendors. We owe it to ourselves and our children to make real food that we would want to eat. Not something we have to eat. Our goal is to make a great community spot where you can always come by and find something delicious no matter what you're craving.'' - Jimmy
